First Day's Rainy Adventure

So Ron has planned and researched and talked about this trip for a very long time.  What he couldn't predict is us leaving on one of the worst El Nino days ever!  With rain the ENTIRE day, winds up to 25 mph, snow and just overall traffic, this first day of travels was full of excitement for 400 miles!

If you know us, that is a lot of miles, we usually like to do around 200, but we wanted to go at least half way before our official first stop of Apache Junction, AZ.  We ended up at a BLM,  (Bureau of Land Management), area just outside of Joshua Tree National Park.  This was part of Ron's research on what is know as boon docking, that is, camping without hook ups, and free.  We were pleasantly surprised there were three other rigs there weathering the storm, so we felt safe. ( Although I did tell at least four people where we were in case we were washed away or worse!)
